GLF Schools

GLF Schools was founded in 2012 in order to enable the federation of Glyn School (an academy in 2011) and Danetree Junior School. Together, we began our journey to become a MAT of more than 1000 talented staff working with over 10,000 children in 40 schools across 5 regions in southern England.

Cuddington's 6Cs

The 6Cs form the basis of our school values and are an important part of our daily life. These are integrated into our curriculum and are a large part of our whole school ethos.

What are our 6Cs?

Ours 6Cs are:

Calm

Caring

Committed

Courageous

Creative

Cooperative

How do we celebrate our success?

Our Star of The Week assemblies on a Monday focus on a different value each week.  They recognise when a child has shown that 6C of the week from the week before. The children are announced in the assembly with the reason why and a 6C postcard certificate will be sent home in recognition of this achievement.

What is the impact of our 6C approach?

We want to encourage the chldren to be well rounded citizens of our school community. We feel our 6Cs allow for opportunities for us to help the children to further develop as independent, thoughtful, cooperative learners. We actively encourage children to focus on a particular 6C that week in order to help develop their awareness of these key personality traits. Past experience shows that using this system works best when it is also used at home. We hope that the children will begin to use these words at home but we activity encourage you to them as well.

How are they used?

As well as promoting the 6Cs positively we also use them to help reflect on our behaviour or behaviour for learning choices. We ask the children to think about how they could have approached that situation differently in order to make changes next time and learn from it. E.g. If your child has behaved in an unkind way then we will be challenging that behaviour by asking the child if they behaved in a caring manner, if they have lost their temper we will ask them if they acted in a calm manner, if they have produced a piece of work with very little effort and/or thought behind it we will question them and enquire if they were fully committed to achieving the best piece of work that they were capable of.

Our 6C Year 6 Achievers:

Six children are selected as our 6C Oscar winners at the end of the academic year. These children are chosen because they have particularly shone in that 6C area. These awards are particularly special because the children's names are then placed on our roll of honour plaques in the school office foyer.
