Uniform Policy
Principles
Our policy is that all children should wear clothing that is in keeping with a purposeful learning ethos. We also believe that certain school activities are facilitated by specialised and appropriate clothing (including organised events outside normal school hours).
Aims
Our policy is based on the belief that a school uniform:
• Promotes a sense of pride in the school
• Engenders a feeling of belonging
• Is practical and distinctive
• Identifies the children with the school
• Is not distracting in class (as fashion clothing might be)
• Makes children feel equal to one another in terms of appearance
• Reflects the sense both of community and of diversity that the school takes pride in
Summer uniform can be worn from the beginning of the Summer term through to October half term if the weather is appropriate.

In order to reflect our desire that the children will feel part of Cuddington but to reflect the distinctiveness of their curriculum the EYFS (Nursery and Reception) uniform will be:

Cuddington Croft PE uniform from Reception to Year 6 will consist of:
Plain red sweatshirt
Plain white t-shirt
Plain red shorts and plain red jogging bottoms
Plimsolls or trainers with non marking soles
Shoes
Shoes must be black and sturdy; please ensure that there is no heel and fashion shoes should not be worn. Open-toe shoes are not suitable for school. We recommend that children in EYFS (Nursery and Reception) wear shoes with velcro straps.
Jewellery
On health and safety grounds we do not allow children to wear jewellery in our school. The exceptions to this rule are one set of small studs in the earlobe and watches. We ask the children to remove these objects during PE/games and swimming. New piercings should be done at the start of the Summer holidays to allow this. All children are expected to remove their earrings independently irrespective of whether they have been recently pierced. Please also note that allowing your child to wear earrings is at their own risk. Please do not allow items of value to be worn in school.
Make up, Cosmetics and Hair Accessories
Make up, nail varnish and cosmetics are not considered appropriate or consistent with our school uniform. The school does not permit such products to be worn by any children. If children do wear cosmetics into school they will be asked to remove it. Please ensure that headbands and hair accessories are simple and only red, black, grey or white in colour. Hair that falls past the shoulder must be tied back. There should be no unnecessary accessories, colourants, excessive gels or designs ‘cut’ into the hair.
All clothing should be clearly labelled with your child’s name. This is especially important, as uniform items look similar and can easily be confused for another child’s. The school cannot accept responsibility for any lost items. My Nametags offer a range of stickers for clothing and equipment. To raise funds for the school, please use the School ID 2420 when ordering.
Role of the school staff
Set a good example in terms of dress.
Remember that in our respective roles we serve the local community as a set of professionals.
Remind children to wear school uniform. The class teacher will speak to children who do not wear the correct uniform. If they still are not wearing the uniform they are to be referred to the Head of School.
Role of the Senior Leadership Team
The SLT is to ensure that pupils comply with the uniform policy agreed by the SSB (governing body).
The SLT has a duty to enforce the school uniform throughout the school community, as part of the duty within maintenance of day to day discipline in the school.
A member of the SLT will speak to the parents of children who persistently do not wear the correct uniform.
Role of the Parents/Guardians
Ensure that their child / children adhere to the school’s uniform policy.
Ensure that they come to school in uniform everyday unless there are special circumstances such as non uniform days.

All children have equal access to wearing school uniform regardless of their culture, race, religion, gender, disability or ability. We ensure that the set uniform respects other policies such as race relations, sex discrimination and allows for individual sets of circumstances of all groups and individuals.
