GLF Schools

GLF Schools was founded in 2012 in order to enable the federation of Glyn School (an academy in 2011) and Danetree Junior School. Together, we began our journey to become a MAT of more than 1000 talented staff working with over 10,000 children in 40 schools across 5 regions in southern England.

Curriculum Overview

Our Cuddington Curriculum Intent

At Cuddington our curriculum is designed to instil high aspirations in all of our pupils and to encourage them to become resilient, life long learners who embrace challenges and continue to grow.

Our children will be inspired to follow whichever path they choose whilst being well-rounded, conscientious citizens of our community. Our 6C values enrich and underpin our curriculum to ensure Cuddington children are prepared and equipped to succeed in their futures in an ever changing world.

Our curriculum gives children opportunities to develop enquiring minds and a life-long love of learning. We believe in celebrating every success and preparing our children for the future. We pride ourselves on giving our children a range of experiences to bring their learning to life, from hands-on workshops, performances and trips to our three residentials a year including our Y6 trip to Paris, where we see our children develop and become ready for the next step in their journey.

Through our work on the MITA research project which we worked on for two years, we have developed our curriculum to ensure that we are facilitators of learning. Through our curriculum, we demonstrate Rosenshine's principles and an example of this is through scaffolding and supporting the children in their learning to ensure they are challenged appropriately; encouraging them to work with increased confidence in their zone of proximal development. Through encouraging a growth mindset and resilience, we scaffold and support the children to become confident learners and problem-solvers. This is achieved by providing them with learning strategies and the independent toolkit. Through our Packtypes, we encourage the children to understand their metacognition as well as understanding how others learn too. These fundamental values and skills are transferable across the curriculum therefore enabling our children to apply these in their everyday lives.

Our Curriculum Implementation:

Our curriculum offer can be found below, which outlines the curriculums which we use for each of our subjects. Our carefully chosen curriculums have been selected in order to ensure we build upon key knowledge and skills that are explicitly taught to the children in order for them to develop as future historians, scientists, geographers, writers etc. Through our British Values and SMSC ethos, enrichment opportunities and global citizenship, we develop our children to be well-rounded citizens which forms our cultural capital. We continue to use research to support our decision making for our curriculum and use action-research in order to facilitate change. Please read our individual subject pages to find out more about our curriculum intent, implementation and impact for each subject area.

Cultural Capital

“You have developed a broad, balanced curriculum and pupils enjoy learning across a range of subjects. Extra activities, such as ‘science weeks’ and ‘international days’, enrich pupils’ learning and interests in different subjects. Pupils talked positively about many lessons, and stated that teachers ‘make learning fun and interesting’. “ Ofsted 2017
