Sports At Cuddington
At Cuddington Croft Primary School, our mission is to promote and support sport whilst ensuring it is accessible to every child. Physical Education is central to bringing this vision to life, helping pupils develop the skills, confidence and positive attitudes needed to lead healthy, active lives. We believe that every child should have equal opportunities to participate in sport, challenge themselves and proudly represent the school within the local community.
We are committed to delivering a high-quality PE curriculum that inspires our children to enjoy physical activity, develop resilience and experience success. Through sport, children learn the importance of teamwork, leadership, communication and determination, whilst embracing the values of our 6Cs ethos: Caring, Calm, Committed, Cooperative, Courageous and Creative.
All pupils receive a minimum of two hours of high-quality physical education each week. In addition, every class from Reception to Year 5 benefits from a term of swimming lessons delivered by qualified instructors in our exceptional on site indoor swimming pool. These lessons help children develop essential water safety skills, confidence and competence in swimming.
We provide a wide range of opportunities for pupils to participate in both intra-school and inter-school competitions. Children in Key Stages 1 and 2 regularly represent the school in borough and local events, including athletics, cricket, tennis, tag rugby, netball and multi-skills competitions. These experiences encourage children to challenge themselves, develop sporting skills and learn how to respond positively to both success and disappointment in a supportive environment.
Our extensive extra-curricular programme further enriches children's sporting experiences. A variety of clubs are available throughout the year, encouraging participation, skill development and enjoyment of physical activity. Many of these opportunities provide pathways into local competitions and strengthen links with the wider sporting community. Recent participation in tennis and cricket has been particularly successful, supported by our partnerships with Cheam Fields Tennis Club and Surrey Cricket.
We are proud to have received the Active Surrey Equal Access School Award in recognition of our commitment to ensuring equal opportunities for girls and boys in football. This award reflects our determination to provide inclusive sporting experiences both within and beyond the curriculum, enabling all pupils to participate, compete and achieve regardless of gender or background.
Pupil Leadership and Voice
Pupil voice demonstrates the positive impact that sport has across our school community. Children enjoy representing their houses in intra-school events and speak proudly about the opportunities they have to participate and compete. They value the chance to develop new skills, challenge themselves and build resilience through sport.
Our Sports Crew plays an important role in promoting active play and pupil leadership. By gathering feedback from their peers and conducting surveys, they help plan engaging lunchtime activities that reflect children's interests. This has resulted in high levels of participation, increased physical activity and positive engagement during break and lunchtime periods.

While competitive success is celebrated, our primary focus is on participation, personal development and fostering a lifelong love of physical activity. Whether representing the school, leading activities for others or achieving a personal goal, every child's success is valued and recognised.
Through our commitment to high quality physical education and inclusive sporting opportunities, we aim to ensure that all children leave Cuddington Croft as confident, resilient and active individuals who understand the importance of wellbeing, teamwork and healthy lifestyles.
